Eaton is a good diff... When you get down to it, for a 7.5 ring gear they are all pretty weak but for a 6cyl blazer it should be fine if your looking for a locker, F-bodies (camaros and Firebirds)...

did you check for vaccume while you were in there, try pulling the line off (may be a clear elbow slip fit) and moving the heater controls and see if you get suction. May even be your heater...

true true, thanks guys, i wasnt aware that RPO codes would tell you the difference between splines and ring gear diameters, i thought they just told ratio. i will look into it.

Its a 3.42 GM 10 bolt for sure, I have never seen a 1500 seriesone with a DANA 14 bolt. Not saying they arnt out there, i just dont recal ever noticing. Ive seen 2500 series and 3500 series Tahoes...

I have a 1992 chevy K1500 blazer. It appears to be the stock rearend. It has 10 bolts around the inspection cover. Does that mean I have a 8.5" Ring gear with 30 spline axles? Does anyone know?

to put a timing light on it is easy, but it sounds like a vaccume leak, have you checked all the vaccumehoses for cracks or leaks? You can do this by spraying some carb cleaner on the vaccume lines...

So I have a 1992 K1500 Blazer and I may want to tow a open traler with a car on it next spring. If memory serves me right:

1500 = 1/2 Ton
2500 = 3/4 Ton
3500 = 1 Ton
