It was a blast. I built it from a kit, welded everything, rebuilt the engine and painted it. I learned a lot doing it and had fun. VW engines are simple, no electronic sensors and all of that stuff....

Is the coolant lying around this or on top of this fitting? Check your upper radiator hose in this area. If you don’t find a problem with your radiator hose then it could be your lower intake gasket....

I can't tell for sure but that looks like the EGR pipe. If it is it will go from the lower intake to the exhaust manifold left side (driver side). Don't think that there should be anti-freeze here....
