CV Joint Vibration?

A while back, I cranked my tbars and added shackles to get about 2 inches of lift. I was pretty much running my studded snow tires back and forth to skiing, and had not had it aligned. I did have...

RE: 1996 FACTORY BACKSPACING

Every shop I asked at thought that 4" was the only backspacing, I already knew better though.

RE: tire recommendation

I have those Firestones on my Toy truck. The in laws put them on there before I bought it. I use that as my daily driver and off-roader for work. I have not gotten stuck, but avoid most deep mud. I...

RE: Sagging spirngs, wanting a lift.

try Synergy offroad for shackles. I got the 2 inch fabtech. The oem shocks will work with 2 inch. I also need shocks, and was wondering if there are some slightly longer that would be better.

RE: Cant get shackle bolts out!

I could get the top out, but not the bottom. I took off the u bolts to drop it down to where I could beat the crap out of it with a 4 pound hammer for about 2 hours. The oem shackles left some nice...

RE: t-bar crank question

I found the same with my tbar bolts. I cranked the passengers up about 8 times, to even things out.

As for a previous post, the shackles SHOULD be easy. Like was said, drop the spare - a lot of...

RE: BFGS AT'ko

I went with Firestone Winterforce Studded. 235/75R15 I would say a big reason for the choice was the cheaper price.

RE: BFGS AT'ko

I would tend to agree. I got a new set of BFGs last year, and they did great in the snow for the most part. No getting stuck, but I thought they could have been better. Seemed like I would slide...

RE: CV Joints

So the main thing is that it is lubed and sealed, not really that it has x amount of grease?

RE: CV Joints

Thanks for the info. I think that I may leave the drivers side for a bit, and do what you discussed on the other. I suppose I will do that Wednesday when I do the shackles (delivery on Tues. per UPS)...

RE: CV Joints

Would I have to pull the whole assembly out to get it filled?

How full should they be? I believe there is a definite problem on the passenger since I could probably collect a handfull of grease...

CV Joints

Well, I did a t-bar crank. Based on my measurements, I have gone up about 1.5 inches on the drivers side, and a bit more on the passengers to level it out.

First Question: I measure 33.5 inches...

RE: the snow is finally here

Your practicing your driving techniques in a controlled environment. That way you will know how your vehicle reacts, should something happen out on the road.

RE: Fit Problem

Yep. Planned on it. I was going to wait until the shackles are on, so I will be done with all the suspension parts. That should be able to happen soon. We really don't drive it anyway (except for...

RE: Fit Problem

Actually, I went to crank the bars last night, and was a bit surprised. I cranked the driver's side 4 turns, and went over to the other and thought, These seem a lot different."

The bolt for the...

Looks like it is pretty close. How much space is recommended between the back portion of the fender and the tire?

RE: Fit Problem

yah, I was running the same size BFG ATs on the stocks. Glad to hear it should only take the bar crank to get it to fit, if needed.
Any other experiences?

Fit Problem

I just got some new wheels for snow tires. I have a stock 98 Blazer LT 4x4 with slightly up sized 235/75/R15 tires (came with 70's).

The ones they said would fit were a 4 inch backspacing - I...

RE: 1.5" shackles

Ahh, thanks. I believe I understand at this point. The Shackle does not move? It just acts as a vertical spacer?

I guess I have seen so many pictures of shackles installed like the right side of...

RE: 1.5" shackles

I see what you mean, to a point. You are pushing it into shape with the jack, but how does it stay any differently when the jack is removed and the weight of the vehicle is pushing down, causing a...

RE: 1.5" shackles

On the shackles, aren't you putting them in the same location, as far as the bolts go? Or are there different locations to bolt to the frame? I have been thinking about this, but have not looked...

RE: worth it to buy snows?

It does really depend on your need to drive, your skill, and your acceptance of risk.

The snows will help out. A decent all season M/S will do you pretty well as well. I bought a set of BFG AT...

RE: OEM Fog Light 98 LT Blazer

Well, I tried the salvage yard that was open today. They were picked clean.

It seems logical that there would be a power and other for each, and that a double pole switch would be all that is...

I checked all light options. This has the auto lights, so DRL are on automatically, then low beams in low light.

RE: rear washer fluid!

I had that. The line disconected at the exit to the tailgate. I had fluid under the carpet, and it leaked outside, dripping on the drivers side rear corner.

To fix, pull the trim piece that runs...

OEM Fog Light 98 LT Blazer

So, after 9 years of owning this thing, I finally looked at putting some fog lights in. As I am looking at it, I think to myself "When do thoose lights next to the signal come on?" I have the 2 piece...
