I had the same issue with an aftermarket (Equus)...

I had the same issue with an aftermarket (Equus) brand. It was damaged and had a new one sent. I would think the orange mark is your starter point as well.

I know it isn't what you wanted to hear, but yes, those little grommets will save you from rubbing a hole or damaging the radiator.
