Usually iac is problematic on cold start up, when getting off gas pedal and engine rpms drop to settle in at idle. Problems with iac would be any time the engine is at idle.

I had a grand am that did the same thing. The rubber in the motor mounts were shot. More common issue on front wheel drives.

Start in the middle at the selector switch....

Start in the middle at the selector switch. Unplug connector and start engine. If there is vacuum then ur problem is in the dash. If there isn't the problem is between the connector and the engine....

check for vac under the hood. If none u will need to pull dash panel off and remove heater control panel. There is a connector with(if I remember correctly) 6 hoses. Unhook it. 1 should have vacuum....

Possibly the water pump is failing. There is a weep hole on the bottom of the pump if it looks like there fluid coming out the hole then pump going bad.
