I've blown many subs on purpose. Old cheap ones that were dry rotted etc. My 3x12W1's I've had for 3yrs and not once have i smelled them getting hot so I know they're gonna last a lot longer.

Not sure about the oil pressure, but overheating and running funky can be caused by a lean condition. Make sure you don't have any vacuum leaks and check your fuel pressure.
