If the fuel pump is whining bad that could very well be the entire problem. If you want to be absolutely sure, you should do a fuel pressure check.

Too much refrigerant will do pretty much the same thing. You may try putting a guage on it to see where it is when it's running.

It does sounds like a fuel problem. Almost sounds like it could be a fuel pump. I've had the same thing happen on a few other vehicles and it turned out to be the pump.

I've run them on a couple of different vehicles. They worked best with an electric fan. I liked running them on my Mustang. Don't expect anything drastic though.

It's a very brief groaning/growling noise that only happens on fairly hard acceleration. Only in drive, and last for maybe 1-2 seconds. It's not real loud. If you accelerate lightly it doesn't do it....
