My repair yesterday

yesterday I decided to finally attempt a repair on my 1999 blazer with this same issue, here are the before and after pics. I used 1/8" stainless steel I had on hand and this area is now far stronger...

1999 Blazer LT 4.3, 4x4, 4 door. Recently blew an intake gasket, replaced gasket with the upgraded version and all is good there. After the repairs I now have an issue with what seems to be timing...
