If you can get access to a coolant pressure tester it would be the best way to diagnose the leak. I've seen leaks at the intake but usually they only show under pressure.

How does the EGR valve look? If it is open constant it could be part of your problem. I've run into issues with them in the past. But they show up at an idle as well as when running.
