RE: 4WD issues

Good chance it is the transfer case encoder motor. When they start to fail you get intermittent problems shifting into/out of 4wd. Sometimes you candisconnect the battery and when you reconnect it...

RE: Another 4WD Issue

Here is an example from Advance Auto. You might findit cheaper if you look around some.

RE: intake gaskets...

One thing to consider... if your 4.3 is older the lower intake bolts are SAE 3/8 x 16, not metric. They look almost the same so make sure to check what you have. You should chase the threads in the...

RE: Shift Solenoid Testing

I am no tranny expert but I believe the solenoids either work or don't So if it's shifting OK under light loads but won't engage at high rpm/load it is probablysome mechanical component like the...

RE: Blazer Wont Start

I'd agree that is is very likely to be the pump if the relay is working. Could also be the wiring going to the pump, though very unlikely. Could also be the electrical connector on the tank (a little...

RE: Blazer Wont Start

You mean price for a fuel pump, not filter, right? I didn't check today but IIRC the pumps alone are ~$100 and the entire assembly ~$250. Check Rock Auto, or the usual places Advance Auto or Autozone...

RE: Wont Start!!!!!!

Check the fuel pressure. It's very likely that the fuel pump is going or gone. When one of these motors acts this way that is the first thing to check. Checking spark is a close second but low fuel...

RE: 96 blazer hot start problem

To narrow things down you really need to check for spark and put a fuel pressure gage on it when you are having the problem.

RE: Blazer Won't Start

Sometimes instead of failing outright the fuel pumps start getting weak, meaning they put out slightly lower psi than they should. If so, sometime the motorwill start, sometime not. Also, cycling the...

RE: Blazer Won't Start

Almost surely fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator. Check fuel pressure at the rail.... needs to be ~60. Wouldn't hurt to check for spark to be sure.....

RE: 95 blazer 4.3L with random miss

My 1994 has some "delicate" vacuum lines near the distributor. There is a connex to the intake manifold there and a "y" with a bigger tube thru the firewall to the HVAC controls inside and a small...

RE: Intake manifold gasket question

I just did this job myself last week, estimate sounds reasonable. Not much cost in parts but lots of labor. Don't want to type more to explain because the server will probably reject it anyway...

These guys have 'em for reasonable $. http://www.lindertech.com/reconinj.htm

Be careful taking off the torx bolt that holds the fuel line retainer onto the back of the intake. Chevput it on with...

RE: how to and tools to R&R knock sensor 4.3L code W

I think the next step would be somethng like drilling a 1/4 or 3/8" hole all the way through, and inserting a hardened metal rod to pull or hammer on. The casing on the sensor is thicker and toughr...

RE: how to and tools to R&R knock sensor 4.3L code W

Got that sucker! I tried the channel locks... not enough grip. The vise grips did the trick. No finesse, just brute strength. Sometimes that's the only way. :-)

RE: removing a/c compressor on a 4.3l 89 blazer

If you look closely at the bolts one side of the head is ground flat. Orient the flat side toward the clutch and they will come out.

RE: how to and tools to R&R knock sensor 4.3L code W

That may be worth a try. But it looks like the darned things are installed with red thread locker so it'll take aome real torque. Not sure if any crimp will be up to that. Bt I'll give it a try...

how to and tools to R&R knock sensor 4.3L code W

I managed to break the plastic insulator off the drivers side knock sensor during an intake manifold gasket job. D'ohhhhh! 22mm wrench turns the nut and innards of the sensor round and round but does...
