Sure as heck looks like a crack to me. I would pay close attention to it. No sense in replacing the seal and hoping it's not cracked because you don't want to deal with it if it is.

I am finding it hard to test for vacuum when I have to remove the battery and tray to remove the vacuum module. How is one supposed to reattach the battery with the short cables to test it out?

4WD does not engage, transfer case does....

Trying to work out the kinks. Hit the switch, I hear the click and the 4HI button lights up. Put it in neutral and hit the button, the 4LO button lights up and the transfer case does go into low.

I can turn the wheel from about 10-2 o'clock before the truck actually starts to steer in...
