If you haven't already, try resetting the computer then drive it for I think 70 KMS/43.49 miles and let the computer retest all the sensor, then see what kind of mileage you get.

All I can say is that Auto-4X4 switch is an excellent feature that I use often out here in Calgary Alberta Canada during the winter. It works very well out here and has saved my ass more than once.
