How would you determine if you had a weak or retarded spark if the timing is computer controlled? Would a rough idle or pinging be the sign of that?

Sorry I'm responding even later! I got my timing problem fixed after a couple hours of head scratching. Had nothing to do with fuel injectors. Pretty much had to stick a screw driver down the tube...
