Cool rebuild or replace

97, 4.3, 210000 miles ran ruff oil wasnt milky when i drained it cata. Converter is shot alot of black soot on the 02 sensor and in the y pipe on the passenger side my guess is from the converter...

Also i had no coolant on the outside of the motor...

Also i had no coolant on the outside of the motor but had to keep adding talked to a guy were i work and he helped me figure it out. He was a mechanic still does some on the side

Had the same problem changed the intake gaskets...

Had the same problem changed the intake gaskets that fixed it for me. The heater could be pulling the smell of coolant from the engine compartment.
