yours was ok after adding fluid? Sounds like catastrophic damage was being done.. as soon as I got it back in 2x2 (took almost a minute) it was fine again.

Got it!!

Well I pulled off the front drive-shaft and replaced the u joint even though it seemed ok.. NO MORE CLANGING NOISE!!! Thanks guys! only cost me 20 bucks!! I traded my 1988 bayliner for a 1982...
