my '99 Zr2 had the cable problem. the wiring harness had corroded from (yes) battery acid and wasnt making contact. it was a bitch for me, i had to take it to the dealer to get it figured out...

It's the button for your rear hatch. Push it twice and it'll unlatch your rear hatch.

Search around on the net. I'm sure you can find one for pretty cheap. Or try the link at the bottom of this forum. Haven't looked at it yet, but its a good starting point.

I put in a Kenwood mp3/cd headunit, 2 12" Kenwood subs in sealed box, and an 800 W Kenwood amp to push em. All done myself and all wires hidden. Next step will be to replace all the factory...

I don't know if the '88 has one a mass air flow sensor or not, but your problem sounds identical to the problem i was having with mine a while ago. I popped in a new sensor and the problem went away.

I would buy a whole new cable if you want quality work. If the cable broke, it's probably corroded through more than just the place that it broke. Its not an expensive fix, but i think it would be...
