RE: The Great Speaker Debate

I've always been a fan of Polk speakers and subs. There's something about the tightness of the low end that makes 'em that way to me.

Sony Xplod is a joke, HUs, speakers, subs, amps, all of...

RE: Who is the high miles champ

I'm the lowest so far. 145800. Runs pretty good, could use a tensioner bearing but that's small stuff. Runs smooth most of the time but there's a certain temperature (around 60F) that it doesn't want...

RE: Heartthrob Deep Tone kit for S-10s...

That's where the retrofitting comes in. An extra clamp and extra piping is included, and you could bend that pipe by hand (or I can bend exhaust pipe by hand, anyway...) to fit with the extra pipe...

RE: Heartthrob Deep Tone kit for S-10s...

The ones for the S-10s should be easily retrofitted to a Blazer, since the main chassis is the same.

Heartthrob Deep Tone kit for S-10s...

Can it be retrofitted to a 4 door Blazer? Judging by the pics on the site it looks like it would come really close to fitting perfectly. It might be a little on the short side, though, but they do...

RE: 96 Blazer fuel problem

Mine does that when I pull the vaccum hose off the intake. I did that as an experiment to see if it would fake cam out like my El Camino did when I did that, no dice... just ran like turds.

RE: Will my system be any louder if I get a more powerful sub?

I know that 2 Type Rs in a Chrysler Sebring LXi coupe will destroy the license plate frame, the thing that holds the license plate frame to the trunk, and completely mess up the weatherstripping on...

RE: Door speaker install problem

They're attached with 4 t10 hex screws. Pull the panels off all the way, which takes some fighting to get the power window/lock buttons out, but they'll come out completely with enough wiggling. The...

RE: Questions on Speakers

The factory HU actually sounds pretty decent if youre using a sub with it. The mids and highs are great, but it runs out of juice at really low levels with the bass up. Dash speakers = 4x6 regardless...

RE: Got a new HU... doesnt want to work.

Yeah, I can, but I won't be doing so. I'm going to buy a different (and $10 cheaper) HU that sounds better and does more stuff.

RE: Got a new HU... doesnt want to work.

The fuse in the back of the radio is NOT blown, for the 2nd time, and yes, I AM wiring it up correctly according to the wiring info available in this very sub-forum.

RE: Amp location

Mount them on the little things that fold down with the rear seats. They're sturdy enough, and will hold 3 or 4 amps easily.

RE: Got a new HU... doesnt want to work.

It's actually kind of loose, no matter which way I put it on... but if I push it in, the piece of junk still won't work.

RE: Got a new HU... doesnt want to work.

It's more of a nut than a bolt, and the stud is grounded via metal+metal contact to the floor pan. My amp is grounded there and works fantastic.

RE: 2.8 V6 carb problems

RE: 2.8 V6 carb problems

You could take the choke off completely and pump the hell out of it to start it cold as a temp fix. If thats not an option, check Jegs and Summit for carbs that will fit. I know nothing of the 2.8s,...

RE: Enclosure design ideas

That's a setup quite similar to the JL audio custom fit enclosure for Blazers. I was going to buy one of 'em but ran out of cashola.

RE: Enclosure design ideas

I think this would be pretty genius as far as clarity is concerned... facing them rearward seems to me to turn the sound into mush and it loses quite a bit of intricacy that way.

Of course,...

What 4x6's fit in 2nd gens?

I have a set of Sony 4 ways that I think will fit, but I'm not sure. They're 1 11/16" deep. Will they fit? If not, what will?

RE: OEM Speaker Sizes

This is a good idea... a 4 ohm 100 watt resistor should do the trick. I say 100 watt because better safe than sorry. You don't want resistor guts splattered all over behind your dash.[sm=smiley14.gif]

The speakers in my '00 were 9.5 ohm. I've been using 4 ohm Sony 4 ways since about 2 days after I got the truck on the factory head unit and I haven't had any problems except a lack of extreme volume...
