Has the fuel filter been changed recently? I have had the same symtoms with mine an the filter was clogged, it would run but rough as heck.

It depends on how well the maintenance was kept up on it. Mine a '94 has 199K on it. Its not uncommon to see engines with a lot more on them.

years ago in the race engines, we always would peen the studs because the force on the springs was so great, it would pop that stud out. Not a big deal for a machine shop to do.

I dont know about the '93 model year 4.3, but on mine a '94 the egr valve is located in front of the distributor and it is electronicly controlled one which lists for about $200.00.

Its a bit tricky to get the starter down once its loose, you just have to turn it the right way and it falls out. Its pretty tight but managable. Mine was super easy once I took the exhaust loose.

Ebay can be all right to get parts from. Just be cautious and do some homework on the person and/or company selling the products. There have been some fraud cases out there.
