You might have a defective wheel speed sensor. Unfortunatly without a scantool you really can't diagnose it yourself. Pay the diagnosis fee at a repair shop and do the repair yourself.

If you have access to compressed air you need to blow right in that passage with a blow gun or you can even start the engine with the valve off and rev it up one time and blow any carbon out.

I'm not really sure that timing is your problem from the symptoms you described, but what the hey, give it a try. Make sure you put it in base timing mode before you check the timing.
