RE: Heater not working.

In general, there are two 'doors' (ventilation valves of sort) which control the air in your vehicles interior ventilation. The first, mentioned in the post above, directs air to the desired output...

RE: Trick to removing PCV valve?

If you haven't already done this, I would strongly encourage you to purchase a Haynes or preferably Chilton manual for your truck. I think Haynes bought Chilton, so now you can only get new Haynes...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

Since people brought up the issue of different brake systems on the '96 blazer, I thought I would specify that my blazer is is 4WD and has front Disc and rear drum brakes. I do want to be clear that,...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

So I took the new pads and the caliper off of the truck and took them into a different AutoZone to check if the wrong pads had gotten put in the new box or if somehow I'd always had the wrong...

RE: 98 variety of issues

I agree with the above post but will add a couple things. If your gas gauge works fine when you are in drive, I would let it be, dropping the tank is a real pain and a new sending unit is not cheap....

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

I had thought of that.I guess earlierI passed over that idea becauseit does bolt up and the padsdo fit to it.At this point I'll believe anything is possible. I'm glad you mentioned it; I should take...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

The rotor diameter is 10.5". The new one is the same as the one I just took off, and the part number cast into the rotor matches what is indicated on their webpage. Also, I checked NAPA's webpage,...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

Yeah, I love my local autozone because the employees are incredibly friendly/experienced/helpful. They stand behind their warranties, and when you do get the correct part, they are good quality for...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

Well I know that the old pads (the ones I just took off) and the new ones are the same size (we compared the parts side by side at the store), so that means it would have had to happen on both the...

RE: 98 blazer stalling. Please Help !!

Perhaps its a manual and your not stepping on the clutch when you brake??? Totally kidding... hope you appreciate sarcasm.

Anyway, I had a similar problem with a totally different vehicle;...

RE: Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

Yeah the pads and the rotors were new 10 months ago, and I just got brand new pads and rotors two days ago and they are the same on both sides. It appears like the entire pad is shifted radially...

RE: Dropping gas tank on 98

It might be possible, but I think you'd have to have one of those 'mirror on a stick' tools so that you can see the lock-ring before/while you are trying to undo it. The real savings of this would be...

Wrong Brake Pads: 1996 Blazer, 4WD

I installed new pads and rotors on my front axle 10 months ago. They squealed under moderate pressure at low speeds almost immediately. This seemed to come and go over the weeks. 4 months later, I...

RE: Dropping gas tank on 98

There is a lock ring. The sending unitjust sitson top of the o-ring. The lock-ring then goes on top of a lip on the sending unit and underneath a lip that sticks up on the gas tank.

RE: 4wd trouble

I recently had to work on my 1996 Blazer 4WD. I found that putting it up on 4 jack stands makes diagnosis much easier. I'm sure some would advise against this, but if you are careful and...

RE: Dropping gas tank on 98

I would add that when we replaced the sending unit, we ended up reusing our old o-ring, as the new one was too hard and wouldn't allow the sending unit to be properly seated.

RE: Dropping gas tank on 98

I just helped a friend replace the fuel sending unit on a 1998 GMC Jimmy, which is obviously similar, but perhaps slightly different. On his tank (and in general) there are three smaller (~1/4") fuel...
