That was exactly it! I had 2 that were loose so...

That was exactly it! I had 2 that were loose so I drilled them out and used 2 bolts with wing nuts to secure it (all I had floating around). No more thunk when putting the window up or down.

The trim plate does pull off pretty easy as it is mostly clips that hold it in but there are 2 screws that hold it on both sides of the steering wheel. There should be 4 screws on the panel below...
