I'd say more than likely that you have a shift solenoid that has gone bad. After a while it should throw a CEL. However, you might check your fluid and make sure it's full and doesn't smell burnt.

I recommend getting a transfer pump. I bought one from harbor freight and it worked awesome. Pumped 2 quarts in and only had a little leak from the fill plug. It took me all of maybe 10mins to do.
