It (snap ring) holds the shaft in place.. Its not a hard job I replaced a front CV axel, both front wheel bearings, and breaks in about 2 hrs.. I am just a guy trying to save a buck not a mechanic. ...

I had the same issue a couple weeks a ago. Thought it was the ignition but took my ECM in to A zone and they tested it was fine.. Got it to fire with starter fluid. determined it was the fuel pump.....
