Well, another hour of messing around and I still can't figure it out....everything is plugged in, yet I have dead odometer, speedometer, no stereo or heater controls, tach doesn't work...some of it...

I encountered this exact same problem after reassembling my 2000 jimmy after a heater core replacement....haven't figured it out yet.

I've never used a strap that stayed in one piece during a recovery. They always snap on me. A chain has never broken on me, however. Though a chain can break if you don't take the slack out of it...
