87 COMANCHE 2.8 V6 timing issues

Howdy guys. I have a bud with a Comanche with a 2.8. It's a California Jeep. The problem we have is the timing is all voer the place up to 8-12* of difference as it idles. What all should i have him...

I may do a 3.4 swap in the future. I like having 4WD, so a V8 swap prolly wont happen. The 83 carb is off of another gM vehicle. They have been using e2se's since like 81 or so on other vehicles....

Yeah, that carb is an e2se as well. My choke light doesn't go off, so I am suspecting a little bit of choke may be on? I know it isnt full choke, because the truck won't even run with the choke fully...

It is an e2se(as I think all 85's are). I do not see anything that clearly shows how to adjust the jetting. Some of those sites are unresponsive :(

I am thinking since the coil looks original,...

I am running rich and was wondering if anyone knew a good site that shows how to adjust the jetting. I was also wondering if anyone replaced the stock coil with something more efficient?

Yeah, it's da glass. I was thinking if I lofted it 2" or so, I could maybe fit some 31's in there.
My local Gm dealers can't go further back than 1991 on the VIN. Know anyone else I can maybe call...

I just came into a 1985 blazer and the carb is flooding pretty badly when I get on it. The mech, a friend of mine, says it isn't turning the choke off right far as he can tell. What options do I have...
