RE: Do not buy cheap Cap and Rotor kits, FYI

Yes. And thank you for your help. I just wanted to post this (though it's embarrasing) just in case someone does the same thing maybe they won't have to replace their intake manifold gaskets without...

Do not buy cheap Cap and Rotor kits, FYI

I have spent 2 months and way too much money chasing after a random miss during acceleration and when cruising at 55 mph. After all this time, I finally broke down and took it to the GM dealer. They...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Yes. No. No. Yes. Yes. Yes.
I kinda got fed up with it today and just started pulling sensors and looking at the condition. I pulled the MAP sensor and it was really nasty, so I got a replacement...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

It's back again. I've now replaced the fuel filter, intake gaskets, plugs/wires/cap/rotor. I tried to check the TPS by removing the intake but leaving the sensors connected. The truck idled like crap...

RE: 99 Blazer 4.3L surging/missing at 2000rpm

Did this ever get resolved? I have an almost identical problem. My truck idles fine, then kinda chokes at the 1-2 shift (didn't notice RPM) and starts the cutting out/misfire at a steady 1800-2100...

RE: replacing intake gasket

By TV cable, do you mean throttle cable? If so, I just took the whole bracket loose when I did my intake gaskets. Sorry.
Yes, if your blazer is newer the intake is (top) black plastic (bottom)...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Forget that last post. It seems to have gotten worse and is doing it when I rev it at idle now. Here's an update. It only seems to do it between 1800-2300 RPM's. I have checked all of the wires and...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Could this be a transmission problem? I've been thinking about it and the truck has no problems reving when in park or neutral. It seems fine then. I realized it this morning when I reved it a couple...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Another update. I checked the fuel pressure and it's about 60 and doesn't leak down. When I start the truck and let it idle the pressure is steady at ~52. What could cause the truck to idle ok, but...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

OK an update. I found that the hose from the bottom of the coolant overflow tank was completely stopped up. I replaced that and cleaned the tank out pretty good. I put it back and and filled the...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Alright. I found an autozone and rented the scanner. The code was for the Camshaft Position Sensor circuit, which is what I plugged back in per swartlkk. I cleared the code and let the truck run a...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

swartlkk
Yep, that seems to have fixed the bad idle/dying at first throttle problem as well as the tach. It's running fine (didn't get to do a road test because it got dark and I don't think I have...

RE: Problems after Intake gasket replacement

Um....Nope. That was it. I forgot that the connector fell back down behind the engine. Thank you very much.

Problems after Intake gasket replacement

OK. A week ago I noticed that my 98 2dr 4wd began doing a little chugging or dropping power just for a second while at highway speed. It felt like the gas had water or maybe a pump going bad. I put...

RE: What shocks?

I've just installed Bilsteins and I think they're a little stiffer than the stocks. That being said, my stockers were the decarbons with 118K miles.

Bad spring? Something bent?

So I recently bought a 1998 2dr 4wd. I noticed the right rear was wearing on the outside edge and, having not owned a truck in so long, thought "it just needs an alignment". Duh. Solid rear axle. I...

Wanted to say hello

I'm Scott and I bought a 98 2dr 4x4 a little over a week ago. I've already found several things I need to fix (I'll be in the TECH section if anyone needs me...) but this is my 3rd Blazer. Like I...
