I had the same issue. I replaced both at the same time. I found a FPR on ebay brand new for like 36 bucks shipped. Trucks ran great till i popped a valve :)

This might be a long shot but mine was making a similair noise on top of the engine towards the rear and it turned out to be the large O-Ring surrounding the spider assembly. Might wanna check there.

They most likely didnt charge you tax if you are doing your own DMV. If thats the case then you will pay tax when you register.
