sounds like shocks to me... classic case: really bouncy and when you hit a big bump you get the bottoming out bang cuz there is to compression dampening left in the old shock

Def a vacuum issue so you are on the right track! I have not done enough on these yet to know the exact answer to your last question, but look for a vacuum line going through the fire wall and go...

there is a wire that goes into the stereo called "dimmer" or "ilummination" that is tied into the dash lights... I believe it is orange... or atleast it always used to...

I thought that too, but jumping power to the cluster fuse and/or the ign c fuse should make it go away, right? and not make the truck the truck not idle...

Everything seemed way too wierd for it...
