2010 Scrape by the Lake this weekend, eh.

how's it going boys 'n girls?

just wondering who all is going to be attending this years Scrape in Prudhommes Landing, Vineland, Ontario on Sunday (July 18th)?

gonna be my brother's debut show since the make-over on his truck.

well............i didn't see anyone from the forum there (big surprise). did see a few members from another forum i'm on, down there though.

thought i'd just fill ya in anyways.

weather was amazing! a little too hot for me, but not a cloud in the sky 'til late afternoon. still great weather then, but a little cooler (thank God!).

too bad i forgot to check my camera-battery was dead! :icon_doh:

everyone was blown away by the quality of work, and attention to every last detail on my brother's truck. guess all those custom machined pieces paid off for him. :icon_wink:

even the judges were impressed enough to give him 1st in class.

pretty cool considering one of the judges has had a long standing riff with us. (12 years, not really sure why anyways)

Man, you know I would have gone if I lived in Ontario. Nice truck your bro has, and congrats on first place!

while it still looks the same on the outside (that pic i posted is from '99), it's what's been re-done under the hood.

while my camera was out of action Sunday (so no finally assembled pic's), i did snap a few of it when i finished getting it back in running order late last Wednesday night (more like early Thursday morning!).

hmmmm...............just noticed, his custom piece he made to replace the factory Vortec piece wasn't installed yet.

custom power block, in the shape of a Chevy Bow-Tie, no less. solid stainless. power from battery comes here 1st, then goes out to the rest of the truck. actually ran out of space with this one, had to add another one behind the grill for his bag set-up.

just to give you an idea of the level of detail that was put into his truck this time around. besides the custom billet replacement for the factory Vortec cover,

-matching-and indexed-oil & rad cap's.
-billet pulley to replace the plactic A/C by-pass pulley.
-numerous stainless steel bolts:
;bolt for by-pass pulley,
;both bolts for the by-pass pulley bracket,
;bolt for tensioner & tensioner pulley (LH thread),
;all of the 6mm bolts to assemble the alt.,
;the long bolt for the alt., also used to hold the air intake tube,
-solid stainless Chevy Bow-Tie power block,
-2nd stainless power block,
-all of the terminals used on the battery, fuse block for the amp, frame ground(s), engine block ground, starter connection. all made from stainless steel.
-custom panels to hide the holes (access holes?) on the inside of the fenders,
-custom panel to hide the back of the driver's HL & vacuum canister,
-custom panel to hide the electrical bulkhead beside the booster,
-custom fan shroud for the electric fan,
-plus all of the electrical for the front of the truck was cut & ran with 2 plugs through the inside of the driver's fender (which is hidden behind the above panel),
-vacuum canister (ball) relocated under the rad support,
-washer bottle has not been in the truck for 10 years, so the valance was shaved of washer nozzle, rain gutters were filled,
-vacuum lines (and all other lines/wires) ran through frame rail to be hidden from sight,
-almost 30 holes were filled (welded) to smooth over the inner fender wells. including eliminating the inner splash shields & washer nozzle hole,
-custom air manifolds for the pressure switches (which were painted to match the frame) & valves,
-custom mounting plate for air mainfolds & compressors.

also, every fastener that was removed during the build, was replaced in stainless steel & polished to a mirror shine.

every aluminum piece (including the stainless fasteners) on the engine was polished & nickel plated, 'cause everyone does chrome. the valve covers, while new steel pieces, were nickel plated to match.

i'm sure i'm missing some stuff, but i'm sure you get the idea. :icon_wink:

besides the fact that his frame was painted dark blue & all of the suspenson components were painted in a deep purple, his steering components/rotors were done in high impact aluminum.

Wow that truck looks fantastic!! Any more pics of it? I would love to see more of it!

Man, I am impressed with all the work he put into that truck. Amazing!
