Interior lights (blue) done with touchscreen head unit!

What do yall think? I;m working on a new "performance style" steering wheel, shifter/knob and the sound system now.... but the lighting is done!

Lookin' good. You even got the shifter lights nice. Very thorough.

Oh, and how did you do the lights behind the headlight switch? I don't like that that is the one spot on mine without green.

shotnva777 10-15-2011 07:21 AM

I gorrilla glued an LED behind the switch, then hot wired it to my fuse box and grounded it somewhere... it turned out good, its cool because its always on when the trucks on! That way when you get in at night and crank it you don't have to feel around over there to find the switch to cut on the HID's ;)

Oh, and that LITTLE row of led's under the dash (first pic) is a life saver when searching for something in the pocket infront of the shifter.... it's just wired to a toggle switch.

Thogert 10-15-2011 04:33 PM

Yeah I have 4 pods with 6 green leds in mine. Two are on the overhead console, and two go to the footwells. They will be wired to my dome light once I get it fixed.

gatorboy44 10-15-2011 04:52 PM

Looks good! I can't wait to put some blue leds under my dash.

EricR 10-15-2011 11:10 PM

Damn man that is friggen sick! I did this once when I had a focus and I'm never going on such an undertaking again.

RangerG 10-16-2011 02:42 AM

Looks good! Very similar to mine:

Yea, when you open my doors my floor lights are LED lights, they're HUGE, because they're supposed to be for turn signals :icon_shrug: ... and the dome lights are just #197 replacement LEDS as well....

Weathertechs. Cost me $120 or $140 for the pair. :S Call me crazy.

gatorboy44 10-18-2011 06:39 PM

You can find them for cheap, found that motorized Valor touch screen for 50 bucks on craigslist! Look for some Valor ****, it's DECENT quality for a DECENT price IMO! And I like nice, cheap ****.... lol :icon_speaker1:

gatorboy44 10-18-2011 09:10 PM

I bet the touch screen is a pain to use while you're driving down the road.

Actually not at all, believe it or not! That's what I like about it, its not REAL touchy. You can actually adjust it to how hard or long you have to touch it for it to read the touch, it's a quality/tough touch screen for the price! And if it WAS too difficult, you could always control everything from the base of it, like a normal cd player with the normal buttons! I love it, I'll never need a MP3 player again! I have all of my movies/music videos on one SD card and all of my music on another. It's perfect! :icon_teeth:

Alarm, remote start, detachable face.... plus the head unit is literally bolted in by 8 bolts, two with lock washers! I just put my sub and amp tonight as well (pics to come), the box gets pad locked (Master lock) to the rear steel floor TOMORROW! :icon_speaker1::icon_speaker1:

If you can get all of that, honestly you deserve it.... :icon_no:

What kind of alarm do you have?

shotnva777 10-23-2011 07:24 AM

It's a Viper, not sure of the model number though.... it was on the truck when I purchased it.

pettyfog 10-23-2011 08:25 AM

I like the treatment.. saying something for a geezer, huh!

Except I hate blue cuz I have light blue eyes and any 'electric blue' signs, for example just look like a big blob to me.
But I have a phone charger that uses a humongous blue LED which lights up the footwell {because I have to point it down} and that got me thinking of putting in several LED's under the dash of my TBird that would be on anytime the photocell saw it was dark and the key was on.

How well does it work? Cause I've been wanting to get an alarm system

Nope some Blazers from 2003-2005 came with double din headunits from factory. Didn't have to modify anything for it to fit.
