RE: 00 shock and leaf question

What you have is known as having a saggy ass. Very, very common. The leafs that were put on at the factory are there more for comfort than for usefullness offroad. The two most common fixes are shackles or AAL's. Either will get your rear end up where it belongs.

As far as to find out if the shocks or leafs are bad:
Bounce the back end of your blazer. If it keeps bouncing, replace the shocks.
Look at your bumpstops. If they look like they have been pummled over and over, replace your leafs.
You should be able to feel both if they are bad through the seat of your pants when driving over some bumps.

You can also have a look at the springs themselves. You are looking for cracked leaves where they run over top of the axle. A friend of mine has a 2000 Bravada that has a cracked leaf in both rear spring packs. I keep on telling him he needs to get them replaced!
