2004 ZR-2 Power Steering Leak

Opened the shield and this what i see.... at times there are stains or once was a small puddle under my truck. I have been driving alot more the last 7 weeks, highway mostly, and things are starting to come up .

I was told by a Blazer Owner that i need a Power Steering Pressure Hose to fix it. But after looking at this picture, i think I need both hoses and perhaps a power steering pump... thoughts?

best thing to do is degrease it all and hose it off so it's clean and dry, drive it for another day or so, then crawl back under there and see where exactly it's coming from. no use replacing the pump if it's just a hose is pissing all over the place ;)

looks fairly dry up by the pump, worst case scenario maybe the gearbox?

hmm gear box may explain the "service 4WD" warning light i got a fe w days ago ?!

Looks like it could be the power steering hose, might have a oil line leak too. Best thing to do is as already mentioned. Clean it and try and get a better idea where it's coming from.

You could also check all the fluids to see if you're running low on anything.

And I think he meant steering box which wouldn't have anything to do with 4wd.

all fluids have been stable, except when a puddle was discovered, i happen to check power steering and there was no fluid level reading

Yes the steering gearbox is what I meant, sorry for the confusion. And yes there does appear to be a slight oil leak from the front main seal :/

Also check the power steering cooler in front of the radiator if you have one. My '96 Blazer had a less than a pin hole size leak that was squirting fluid thru the radiator fins. Bypassed it for now.

I need to change differential fluids, and transfer case - Mr Lube would do it for $230 ish, i was gonna Have them check it out

Damn, 230? Seems abit high for $40 worth of fluids:icon_screwy: maybe not???? Just do it yourself and save some $$$$$$:icon_emm:
