4X4 engagement

How hard is it to replace the front axle engagment cable. I believe mine is rusted up. I am sure it is the origonal cable. The axle is slow to engage and almost impossible to get back out of 4x4. You can hear the hubs actually grind sometimes so I know it is not always disengaging all the way. If you cycle the switch enough you can finally get it disengaged.

Start by spraying some wd-40 or other lubricant along the cable to try and help things along, until someone who knows what they're doing can help you out...

Ofcourse, it could be a low vacuum situation, as well, as the axle engagement system is vacuum controlled (at least when telling to engage/disengage the 4x4)

Well since the truck is almost 14 years old i am sure the cable is probably going bad. Plan is to replace the cable and the servo both. Just wondering how the cable connects to the front axle.

You should be able to follow the cable from the vacuum actuator... At least according to the 4x4 Posi-lok instructions, lol

A Haynes or Chilton manual should help a bit...
