4x4 grinding
When i engage my four wheel drive on my 2000 S10 Blazer all i hear is a grinding noise. My dash light comes on but it does not actually engage. Has anyone had this issue?

There is a sliding gear that engages the right-side drive axle I've heard that can fail.

X2 from what Christine said. I don't even know if they are available, but a single shaft based off the Bravada axle is the best thing you can do, IMO. My son found a company that makes them. I don't know the name, but he had to wait a few months for them to get enough orders before they would make a new batch. I had a Bravada shaft for a few years before mine went out a few years back. Weakest part in the 4wd system, besides the actuator.

Thank you for the information, there's a Pick and pull in the next town over. I may try to pull one out of there if I can't get one ordered

It could have been, he never told me the name and I didn't ask for some reason. If the OP can find a Bravada that would be the best option. If not, try the link. Pretty easy to swap them out, and the plug with two wires going into the axle tube need to be cut, stipped at the ends and connected together. Of course, don't forget to weather proof the connection. You don't need the straight axle tube to make this work, just kind of nice to have. You can use the one on your Blazer to save money.
