Default 4x4 lights up but doesnt transfer??!!!???

Sooooo...

My 4x4 is pretty gay. It worked all spring, summer, and fall... But come winter it decides it doesn't want to work.

When I press the 4hi it doesn't do anything....

When I press 4 lo it flashes BOTH 4 HI and 4 LOW a few times, then it will light up the 2wd.

After doing it like 4 times, it will keep the 4 HI and 4 LOW lights on, but I don't really hear it enguaging or anything.

HELP. WHAT COULD IT BE!?!?!?!

What are you driving? I assume you have the 3-button switch in the dash. If so, check out the NV233 threads found in the Tech Article (DIY) Index link posted in my signature.

i dont know if it will help you, but I had a similar problem with my 00 blazer with a 4 button switch. Took it to a dealer as I had no idea what was going on (years ago) they said it was the encoder motor. Totaled the blazer 3 days later so I'm unsure if that was the issue or not

Well I have a 1994/1995 Blazer (everything about it is a 95 except the grille assembly). It has the 3 button switch for 2, 4Hi, and 4Lo.

And i went outside and rechecked it and got this.......

When I press either the 4Hi or 4Lo i can hear it transfering... but the light doesn't stay on for whichever 4 wheel setting i push. But when I press one of them, both 4 wheel lights blink like 3 times and then go blank. If I do it 5 or 6 times they will end up both staying on, but i don't hear it switching over each time... it will the first time I push the button and that's it.

THEN if I hit the 2wd button, i hear it transfer again, the 4 wheel lights blink 3 times and then go out....

Could that just be a problem with the 3 button switch I have??????

mine was a broken wire in the plug of the transfer case and my tccm was fried, the only way to find out for sure is by diagnosing it

Flip01 all it sounds like to me is the actuator motor on the front of the transfer case they are a common problem with all of that model push button 4x4 system. they shouldnt be too expensive to buy either and only takes about 20 min to change
