Default 96 Blazer auto- man transfer case

I was on a webiste either this or very similar to it where I discovered a post that someone had put up where it was taking the automatic transfer case out of the same model and year of blazer that I have and replaced it with a mutated transfer case parted from an automatic and manual. It seemed at the time relatively easy to perform such an operation but i can not find the post or anything saying weither it would actually work. If anyone has the know how, a post that would lead me in the right direction, or if you have converted yours from an automatic to manual transfer case yourself any help is better than none. Thanks in advance.
