ABS sensor wire problem

Hi

I have problem withwire connected to ABS sensor. It is almost new but insulation is really poor so today cable was broken. I repaired it but now expected problems withwire again. What to do? What kind ofwire could I use instead original one. The cable seems not to be just copper wire.

Where is wire broken?? Before or after connector that comes with the sensor (up near frame), or is it by the sensor at the hub???

I am not sure how to say. It is the wire between the hub and car body. It is front wheel. When I bought hub it was together with sensor and wire so this part of wire - coming from connector and moved every time I turn whells is broken.

Did the new hub wire come with mounting clips??? if not then you would have to reuse the old clips that mount to the upper control arm and the frame...there are two on the upper control arm 1. by the ball joint 2. near the shock location on the front edge of the control arm...

I could not remember if the new hub was with clips or not. I mountedthe new hubtwo months ago. The problem is that insulation on new wire (which was the set with hub and ABS sensor) is broken in many place and I think I should use another wire. But what kind of wire?

RE: ABS sensor wire problem

The TYPE of conductor shouldn't really matter. Just make sure you use the same size wire and that you twist the wires around each other at least 1 time per inch of length. But, you definitely have a problem if it is tearing every time you turn the wheel. Either you are missing a retainer or two like 20Blazer00 said, or you have MIS-routed the wires, or the aftermarket manufacturer didn't make the wire long enough. Take a very close look at the other side and make sure it is exactly the same, unless you have already modified it and in that case, look at another truck.

If the type of conductor does not matter I have to go to shop and buy it. I think wire is long enough. I have to check if it was routed properly but I still believe that true problem is insulation. When I touch the wire with fingers I have small parts of insulation left in my hand.

Marcin,

Do you still have the old ABS sensor from the old hub??? If you do, you could replace the sensor with the old one and then take that sensor to the shop you bought it from and say that their part is defective...and demand a new one...
