1996 S10 Blazer 4x4.The bearings went out on the driverside front, so I replaced the driver side front hub/bearing with a Timken hub. Everything seemed to go smooth, but after about 40mi on the new hub, the ABS starts going nuts. The ABS activates ANYTIME I touch the brakes at low speed and the ABS light is on. When I changed the hub, I did have some problems getting the ABS sensor cable disconnected from the frame points and there were a couple of times some tension was put on the wire at the clips and at the sensor. Also, I noticed that the sensor was pretty grimy, but it was working fine with the old OEM hub. Could it be a broken wire in the sensor harness (possibly damaged during the hub change)?

 

Anything is possible. I don't have the wiring in front of me, but you could run a continuity test between the connector at the wheel and the connector on the ABS module.

Did you clean up the reluctor ring on the drive axle before you put the new hub on? It is possible that a dirty reluctor ring could cause problems...

 

Well, oddly enough, it cleared up on it's own. Everything is working to spec now. I guess it just needed time to get aquainted with the new hub. All the same though, I think I will give everything a thorough cleaning and inspection this weekend. I appreciate the responses.
