Default Brake issues

I have a 2000 and the breaks are getting the best of me. I had a few rusty lines so I replaced them. After that I bled it out the best I could but it still didn't seem good so I took it to a shop to have them bleed the abs module. Well they bled it and replaced the master cylinder but the breaks still suck. It has a bad pedal. What else could it be. Can I just by pass the abs module it hasn't worked in a long time anyway. Thank you

you can bypass it but its probably not as easy as just switching the lines around they usually use different fittings so you would have to cut and swap fittings and maybe even run new lines, i bypassed the rear abs unit on my 1990 but that was one line and very easy to do.

one trick i do is i try to isolate where the crappy brakes are by pinching off the rear or front brakes. for example i take a brake line clamp and clamp the rubber hose going to the rear axle, if the brake pedal is now at the very top and the truck brakes really good (as good as it can with the rears disabled) then you know the rear brakes somewhere are you problem.

you can do the same for the fronts by pinching off the rubber hoses on each side though i wouldnt recommend driving very fast or far on only rear brakes.

a long time ago we had a tahoe in the shop with the same problem, bled the heck out of it, we replaced the calipers, wheel cylinders, rubber hoses with no luck. actually ended up being the front brake pads them selves. they looked like they were made out of rubber when hitting the brakes they would compress. i never seen anything like it. anyways replaced the front pads and truck was all good
