Brakes

I looked around, and didn't really know where brake questions should go. I'm sorry if this is the wrong place in advance.

I have a 1995 4WD S10 Blazer that I recently bought. I need to get some new brakes because after like a few days of driving, my rims are COVERED in brake dust. I was wondering if any of you had this problem and if there are some lower budget brake pads that are dust free?

I would also like to find a set of red brake calibers if possible, if nothing else, I will just paint the stock ones. Thanks guys! :D

It sounds like the pads are stuck, either the slides arent greased or the caliper wont return back. Or you could have really bad brake pads that create tons of dust. You could probably buy some after market calipers that are red, or you can get a kit for painting your own calipers.

Yeah, I'm just gonna replace the pads nevertheless and I'll see what that does. What's the worst that could happen, I get better brakes? lol. Money well spent either way. And thanks. I'll check out the slides. You know anywhere that sells red calpers? I can only find ones for 2WD's, I need 4WD's.

Some pads are horrible when it comes to brake dust so there may be nothing wrong with your brakes. This is especially true if you do not notice any drive-ability concerns..

If you get a good ceramic pad, you will be done with the dusting!

About the red calipers... Just get a caliper painting kit. The two part high temp epoxy kits work the best, but the devil is in the details. Prep is what makes it last so take your time and be thorough.

on the outside pad it should have two little tabs at the top and one big one at the bottom use a hammer and bend those in some so they sit tight on the caliper that might be why you are getting so much dust is because that pad is vibrating against the rotor.
