Brand new caliper hanging up allready?
 

hey guys

just installed some new A1cardone calipers and flexible brake lines on my truck today because the old ones were hanging up heating up the hub

so i bleed the brakes and test the pedal a few times all is good

when im putting the wheel back on i notice the new left front caliper is hung up so bad i cant even turn the hub!

is there something im missing? any input would be awesome

Did you grease the pins and the slides?

yea used high temp disc brake grease

Did you bleed the brakes afterwords from the PS rear, DS rear, PS front & DS front, or just the front. Did you bleed the DS 1st? That's a no no, bleed the furthest away from the master brake cylinder always.
Maybe bleed them again just to make sure.
You compressed the calipers to install the new pads I assume.
Only other thing I can think of off hand is a collapsed brake line. It'll allow pressure to go TO the brakes but doesn't allow the pressure relief when you let off the brakes. It will, but it'll be slow hence hanging the brakes up on one side.

When I installed new pads I didn't remove the brake reservoir cap & it caused the brakes to grab like a rottweiler on a T-bone.

i bled just the front, PS side first then DS
new calipers had the piston all the way back in its bore so i diddent need to compress it back , and i replaced bolth front brake lines
now when i bled the brakes i had the master cylinder cap on is it supposed to stay off when bleeding the brakes maybe?

No, fill the reservoir to the line & put the cap on. It won't build pressure with the cap off, fluid will just spout out of it.

Cheap try to fix would be bleed all the brakes from the rear PS etc.
I'd try that & bleed them until the fluid runs clear before you move to the next. That way you're flushing the system & replacing with new, clean fluid. Couldn't hurt anyway.

BTW the rotors are ok, not warped or heat tarnished or grooved?

yea i replaced the rotor hub and wheel bearings about a month ago
im wondering if the combination valve has anything to do with it
ill try flushing the brake fluid first

It is possible that you got a bad caliper, it has happened to me before. But that's my luck.

It could possibly be the proportioning valve. I forgot what year vehicle this was, drums in back & disks in front.
That being said I'm not familiar with the warning lights on the '87. Usually there would be a light if the pressure differential switch sensed the valve off center. But that would be from a leak usually.
A vavle off center means unequal pressure to a pair of brakes. That could be your issue & bleeding them again may help. IMO

Brake hose from line to caliper are the usual culprits. When I replaced the ones on my Bravada for the same issue, they looked great on the outside but a million tiny rubber emarbles came out ehen they were disconnected.

If youmreplaced them, though, I'd look at the proportioning valve. The new caliper easily could be bad, however. Bad machining, flaw in casting, pieces of metal,left where thy could clog the works or hang up the piston...
