Changing T-Case fluid, help?
Hey guys, had a few questions about changing my tcase fluid on my 99 blazer. From what ive seen Im assuming that the drain is on the bottom and fill is on the top. Is there a special tool to be able to get the plug out? tried a socket today and it wouldnt fit. ALSO, could bad tcase fluid be causing my 4x4 not to work??
Thank you, AKPerry |
Bad tcase fluid wouldnt cause it not to work,Unless its just so old and worn its chewed everything up,which i doubt. Whats the issue?
Yes fills on top, drains on bottom. Put atf dextron in it till it oozes out the top hole.. start with 2 quarts. |
I didnt think so and I doubt it as well. My 4x4 is not in working order, when trying to shift to 4HI and 4LO the lights just blink, you can hear the TCCM working but no shifting underneath, I suspect the encoder motor may be the issue but also contemplating the vacuum lines. I have already changed the actuator and only ONE vacuum hose (actuator to t-case) Desperately searching for a solution

not sure about your 4x4 problem, but I changed my fluid last week, it used metric hex (allen) keys

The type of fluid you use depends on the transfer case that is in your truck. NV233 (3 button switch on dash) takes ATF. The NV236 (4 button switch) takes GM Autotrac II fluid from the dealer; no substitutes.

I just bought the fitting for the plug to fit on a 1/4 inch drive socket from autozone.
It was a 10mm fitting. About 4 dollars. Mark K |
