It is hard to tell, but I agree with not seeing the flares, although they could be painted the body color, but they still don't look like they stick out... that being said, your rear axle doesn't look like it's wide enough to be the zr2. If it doesn't have flares on, the tires would be sticking out like the front without the need of spacers...also if you still have a sticker under the hood on the firewall, you will see a zr2 on it... it was a scan code sticker at the factory so the employees knew what parts to install... found that out with my zr2 parts truck lol...
Maybe if you can add some more overall pics of the truck, we could help determine what you got, and what directions could help get you to where you need to be. We have a bunch of good helping hands on here, don't be scared to ask! |

It's kinda hard to tell, but from your avatar pic, I'm not sure your Blazer is actually a ZR2. The avatar thumbnail doesn't look like it has the ZR2 fender flares. If that's the case, then it would help explain why your tires rub sometimes.
The sure way to tell if it's a ZR2 is to check the RPO sticker list in your glove box. Do you know where your tires rub? The most likely places are the rear of the front fenders or the frame.

If your Blazer is a ZR2, it will have it on the sticker which will look something like this: (ignore the little red arrow) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...66ef47aa81.jpg (grabbed the image from https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...ar-axle-98113/) |

Located to the right of the heater core hoses, directly behind the distributor. Notice the zr2 at the bottom right of the sticker... |

ok, so, that's all the stickers i could find and personally i don't see any ZR2 letters? ....
now i will upload some more pics of the truck, if they are not good enough tell me how i can get a more clear view. I'm a little confused as to the difference between a S10, ZR2 and a regular blazer. I'm guessing size and parts. is there a better one to have? thank you guys so much for your time to yall rock! and yes I'm a Vancouverite Canadian more specifically a Burnaby Boy , with the name Travis W. I would like to leave its a boring azz town... I got a multi million dollar view of the mountains and i live on one too though .. let me post some more pics now |

Right. First off you do not have a ZR2 Blazer. The ZR2 was an option for the Blazer which included a different suspension that was wider and had increased clearance. These came standard with the 31x10.5R15 tires.
As for decoding the RPO codes, there are several places on the web where you can find a list of all of the possible codes that you can then search. This is only one of them: https://rparts-sites.s3.amazonaws.co...n/rpoCodes.pdf There are also sites where you can submit your VIN and it will generate a report that shows all of the RPO codes for your vehicle and lists what those options are. Another good source of information is if you can find posted online the sales materials used by the dealers. I've attached the one for 1999. (also look here: https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/gm-...tion-kits.html) These did not change much from year to year so if you can't find a copy for your year, one from an adjacent year will normally suffice. In it you will find a list of the RPO codes that represent the different options available for that model year. For instance, your truck has the G80 code which stands for the limited slip rear end. It also has the GU6 code which means the axle ratios are 3.42:1. As for the RC kit. It looks like you have the longer rear shackles and you also have the RC upper control arms (based on a picture from a previous post). What I did not see is the RC mounting plate bolted on to the driver side of the front axle. This is shown in the installation instructions. The original mounting tab is sawn off and a longer mounting tab is bolted on. This is important as the longer tab along with the spacer on the passenger side will lower the front axle relative to the frame. This repositioning of the front axle does a few things. First it moves the body and frame further from the ground. It also provides more room for larger tires (but more on that in a moment). Third, its new position lower means that the front drive axle CV joints do not have to be at a larger angle. That you have a regular Blazer with an RC lift kit installed will explain why you have some rubbing issues. Even with the lift, my understanding is that there still can be some slight clearance issues between the tread and the fender wells on the front tires. There also can be an issue with the inside of the tires rubbing against the frame when the steering wheel is full over to the right or the left. I found this out when I had a 31x10.5 tire test fit onto my truck. Because I wanted to retain the tighter turning radius, I went with the 30x9.5 tires at the sacrifice of about 1/2" of clearance. There is a lot of information here to digest. But what I would do if I were you is go through the installation instructions for the RC 2.5" kit and then visually check to see if each of the parts were installed or not and then check the measurements for the final lift to see if all the adjustments were done correctly. You could also have a mechanic do this for you but be sure to give the the instructions. However, I think you will benefit from doing this check yourself as it will teach you a lot about your truck. You have the ingredients for a great little off-road truck! I hope this helps. |
I also see the rear sway bar drop brackets, but they are either loose or not installed properly, as the driverside isn't level with the passenger side... that will cause noise bouncing around...

I also see the rear sway bar drop brackets, but they are either loose or not installed properly, as the driverside isn't level with the passenger side... that will cause noise bouncing around...If you can take some pics from under the front end, where the cv axle meets the front diff on both sides of the truck, ill be able to tell a lil more.
Have you taken a look at the pics in my thread? |
OK, SO, i have a regular blazer even after the mechanics at a well respected shop told me i had a ZR2 and put it on the invoice that's why i was thinking so. I've been trying to digest the information given,
I'm a hands on, in person learner so this is difficult for me to envision. i looked at the blazer product guide. I'm aware my front end is a bit lower and i don't get much bounce when i drive i can fix that later as well Don L i couldn't navigate the thread post to find the picture's you mention. I'm still green on the site navigation. I knew my front sway bar was installed upside down and the mechanics said they fixed that but did not mention anything about the back.. i don't know how to find out if my axel ratio is at the proper 3.42:1. ill take some more pics of the underside front end near the diff now... i still want spacers in the rear to match my front wheel poke even if it throws off my geometry a bit, i don't plan on off roading and if i do I'm taking it super slow and gentle. my only true question is can i put a 6" super lift on my 2005 2dr 4wheel drive model ?? i have 2 hi and then two 4x modes. 3 buttons total that's all i want is to go up in the air more. I'm wiling to save up, i know it will be expensive if possible I've been trying to research this but its difficult to sift through all the different kind of information on the internet coming from the fact i didn't even know what type of blazer i had. thank you guys again for your time and help, you keep me motivated! |
