Default Dana Swap?

so my cv shafts in my front are going out, and in know cv shafts aren't that expensive. But I was wondering if it would just be easier to find a Dana axel to swap the front out. I was wondering wich type of dana axel i would need and if i would have to mess with the suspension or drive shafts to swap the axel. I Just would like a solid axel in the front due to the demands of winter wheeling in Indiana

Sorrry I have a 1994 S-10 blazer 4.3L (W)

If you have the tools and other equipment to fabricated up leaf spring mounts, by all means, do the SFA swap in the front.

As far as choice of axle, it really depends on how strong you want it to be, how much you want to spend and if you want to get one that is already the proper width. I would say that an axle out from under the front of a Jeep may make the most sense as it should already be close to the proper width, but I really have not researched it much.

I have been looking into front axles out of leaf spring Wranglers but coil suspension isn't out of the question. For anyone wanting to keep the front ABS all there, they would have to use the unit bearings from the blazer and the rotors and calipers from a jeep. The 4.5" lug pattern jeep rotors would have to be redrilled to match the 4.75" lug pattern of the unit bearing (and the rear axle).
I haven't worked out the steering linkage yet. The drive shaft can be done by any driveshaft shop.
It definately will take some fabricating for the suspension but hey... as long as you have the right tools, how hard could it be?

Diversified Creations makes an adapter that allows you to install S10 ABS Bearings and discs on the Dana 30 Wrangler axle. Also, Sky's Offroad Manufacturing makes a solid axle swap spring hanger kit that includes a weld-on crossmember and spring mounts.
