Destroying front end parts
 

So my 98 4dr has the rough country lift ride height at 19" from center of wheel to edge of fender. I replaced the rough country upper ball joints with Moog after 500 clicks, the lowers are moog and have about 1000 clicks and are worn out, and the left upper has a mere 100 clicks and it is worn out again.

the idler and pitman arm are both new (moog) idler arm now ready to fall off again has about 10k on it, the alignment was dead on spec until the parts wore out. Haven't done any off roading that would cause premature wear.

All this being said I assume the lift is causing extra stress on the front end so I'm looking for stronger parts to install cost is no longer a issue I'm sick of putting in front end parts and aligning it once a week

I wish I could help you, I do not know lifts, but i do know that moog is a VERY good brand, but I also do know, these trucks eat front end parts like cookie monster eats cookies, add a lift to that, and I can imagine it would go faster, I hope someone can help you with this, good luck

Moog used to be the best. But they have started sending there work to Mexico and quality has failed. I now use Raybestos professional grade. They have a lifetime warranty that covers the part and any labor costs. With balljoints, hold a moog and raybestos side by side and the difference is night and day.

Interesting, thanks for that 50lb_cat. I always thought moog was the way to go. I will have to check out the raybestos when I do the ball joints next.

Sounds like your Tbars are cranked to much... RC 2.5 lift Gives you the instructions with a warning that if you crank em to much it can be a problem.

Raybestos bought out Spicer. Most of the time part makers will make a "top of the line" and an "economy". Just make sure you use the "professional grade" I believe Napa house brand is Raybestos, could be wrong. Done way too much research on the topic over the years lol.

Been talking to rough country and some of there outside installers and they are all saying to lower the front end some more, already at 19" starting to think that maybe it is just the quality of the parts. Guess I should try the Raybestos brand and see what happens, Just getting really tired of putting parts on every month.

Just and update I have replaced all ball joints, and idler arm with Napa top of the line parts which according to my sales rep are made by TRW who apparently makes Raybestos front end parts as well, I did not change the ride height any but did re set the alignment, Lets see how long these parts can hold on!
