E brakes stuck?

Hey guys & gals, So about a month & a half a go I replaced my rear pads & rotors because the rear passenger side pads we're dragging bad. so I replaced the pads & rotors & putta little grease on the slides & what not & when I put every thing back together I noticed that my e-brake cable linkages were damn near falling out both sides so I deciede to just pull'em out & figured I work on'em some other time. well since then I'm noticed that it feels like my brakes have started dragging again in the back & at first I thought maybe it was a bad caliper somewhere or maybe a brake hose colapsing in the back. but I've been doing alittle research & found out the rear brakes are prone to failing in the 2nd gen bravadas. so my question is do you think that I should start there or do you have any tips where to start? the sooner I get'em fixed the better bcuz my mpg has slowly gone from 15-16 to 12-13 & is still falling so I could really use some help. Thanks Mike

I've been having very similar problems with my jimmy. My issues started with the dragging, then went to having strange noises lol. I think if I were you, I'd haul off the rear rotors, and inspect the ebrake shoes and hardware. I have to order new ebrake shoes, and I'm not too sure what I'll get as far as a combi kit- but I'm thinking that it will come with a new clip to fasten to the top of the backing plate, which as far as I could tell keeps the ebrake assembly tight to the backing plate. This is where my problem is, my ebrake shoes wont stay tight to the back of the backing plate...........

i had the same thing happen to my blazer, the e brake pad popped loose and jammed itself in the rotor when i was driveing home one night i didnt realize it until i saw smoke pouring out of my one rear wheel. when i got home i just took everything off and reattached the pad and all was good again.
