Default Either bouncy or a thud

I have a 99 blazer 4x4. Im thinking i need new struts. When you hit a bump it will either bouncy really bad and amost bounces you out of the seat or it gives a very load thud and almost sounds like its going to snap something off. Could there be anything else causing it llike the leaf springs or would it just be the struts?

sounds like shocks to me... classic case: really bouncy and when you hit a big bump you get the bottoming out bang cuz there is to compression dampening left in the old shock

another stupid question...I have no idea what kind of struts are on it now. If there a really good kind but i put on cheap ones will it make it better or would cheap ones be the same as worn out expensive ones?

If you get stock replacements like a bilstein or monroe reflex that will be your best bet. But if you can't get the more expensive ones, the cheap ones will ride better than wore out ones for a while, or longer
