Front diff or CV Shaft?

so i have this problem right now and i want to jump on it before it costs more money than it should. i went wheeling last week and the next day i was looking over my truck to make sure that i didnt wreak anything and i notice this:

its on the driver side, picture from the front of the car. the truck is jacked up in the air and the tire removed, so yeah, the cv angle isnt as bad as it looks. its just because its not on the ground. i have only raised the front about 1 inch with the t-bars.

have i blown out a cv shaft or would you think that its a seal on the front diff?
im thinking that is the cv shaft as all that goop that is being thrown around resembles grease. i dont know if i need to replace the shaft or just a seal....
thoughts??

Yup that's CV grease... not your diff. Check the boot for cracks, sometimes the clamp just comes loose and needs replacement. Otherwise its time for a new boot, and or shaft.

thats what i was thinking.... i used to drive a honda and blew those out and drove it that way for a long time. does anyone know if there has been a write up on that? otherwise i will just get the books out and see what its going to take. thanks for the reply.
