Question about axle fluid capacity
I just replaced some seals in my 10 bolt and had a quick and probably stupid question. My 1988 K-5 has a 6 inch lift on it and I have been reading online that I should fill the rear axle all the way to the fill plug which is about 2 qts. Should I only put 2 qts in it our should I fill it all the way to the fill plug. The only reason I ask is because with the lift, wouldnt the fill plug be raised from the original location due to the adjusted pinion level?
Thanks

ive kinda wondered that too... but look at it like this even if your putting a bit more fluid into it your pinion bearing is also a bit higher so the higher the fluid the better. ive had lifted trucks over the past 10 years and ive always just filled it up till it came out the hole.

I know this is super old but.. If you did a lift on the K5 then the axle is rotated so teh Pinion is facing upward, that means teh Fill on teh cover is actually facing downward a bit... You actually need to add more fluid.
