Half shaft/cv seal

Hey. I have a 2000 blazer zr2 and it seems at tho that the driver side cv seal is leaking. I'm not really sure the correct terms for everything but it's leaking gear oil and I noticed a burning smell last winter when 4w auto was on sometimes. I've been looking for instructions how to pull the cv shaft off and some say I need to remove the hub some don't. But my concern is there some sort of gasket on the back side of that plate that houses the seal, that could be leaking too? It's hard to tell if it's just leaking from the shaft or where that plate bolts on also. I can't seem to find an exploded view diagram of the parts on the differential, everything stops at the "Half shaft?"( I think that's what it's called.) Any help would be appreciated.

I can post pictures and point to what I'm talking about if necessary.

pictures always help.

the cv axle is full of grease. so usually if thats leaking you will see grease chunks splattered around the boot on the frame and everything. if the axle seal is leaking it will just be wet running down the side of it. i know you can unbolt the axle and move it out of the way a bit without tearing everything else apart but dont remember if you can remove it completely out of the way. maybe by removing the shock
